Yes, it is HUGE! A bulk storage horn which came from Cutchogue Long Island, New York, with a verbal Rev. War provenance. It measures about 5 and 1/2 inches across the butt, and is about 27 inches long, with a 1/2 inch spout opening. it has nicely carved bands about 4 1/2 inches back from the spout. The butt plug is held by 20 brass headed tacks, about 5 are missing. This is a plain horn, no inscriptions, but it is Magnificient!! Butt has traces of 2 or 3 small nails.
Price $1000.00

An unusual horn, probably storage. Measures 3 X 3 and 3/4 across the butt. It is 15 inches long, with a mouth of about 5/8 inches. No nails in the butt, and a small ring carved just behind the spout. The initials "U", and possibly "M" are carved in the butt.
Price $100.00

Another bulk storage horn, this is old, with some damage, but unique in that the butt is held with 23 bone or ivory plugs, with a furniture pull as the cord holder. It is brass, and looks 17th century. Butt is 4 x 3 and 1/2 inches, overall length is about 19 inches. Spout hole is about 3/8 inch. Carving on the butt is not legible, probably a "V" so might be Virginia ...
Price $150.00

Probably a F&I period lobed horn, uncarved, but with a really unique spout treatment. The butt is 3 and 1/4 by 2 and 1/2, held with 4 nails made of wood, or thorn. Horn is about 12 inches long with an opening of 3/8 inch. Rough surface has seen some miles. Uncarved, but the real thing.
Price $ 500.00

Yes, it is cracked, but it is also covered with faint carvings on the body as well as the butt. Slightly domed plug held with both iron and wood pegs, with a tack to hold a strap. About 3 inches at the butt, and 11 inches long with a spout opening of 3/8 inch. Floral, scrolls and hex symbols cover the surface.
Price $ 200.00

This is a pie crust horn, or a Virginia pie crust horn due to the spout carving. Butt is flat with 8 pegs, and with an iron staple for the strap. Butt is about 2 and 3/4 inches, length is about 10 inches, spout hole is 1/4". Slight bug damage, but a beautiful horn with great wear at both ends from the carrying strap.
Price $250.00

Nine iron pegs hold in a leather butt plug! Butt has a staple in the center. About 2 and 1/2 inches across and 6 inches long. Spout opening is a bit over 1/4 inch. Unique!
Price $ 75.00

#14 (above)
A neat little flat horn with a batch of initials carved on it. "A AZ" "AN" and "A" are carved on the sides. The domed plug measures 1 x 2 and 1/8 inches, held with 2 pegs and an iron wire loop. About 6 and 1/2 inches long with a spout hole of 1/4 inch. Two body splits do nothing to take away from the beauty of this little horn.
Price $ 150.00

Interesting horn, scraped really thin with a butt plug of about 2 and 3/4 inches, held with 4 square tacks, and 4 added small nails. Has an iron staple for the strap. Horn is about 8 inches long with a high relief tip and a 1/4 inch hole.
Price $75.00

#17 (above)
A crude, chunky little horn. Pine plug with 3 iron nails and a typical wood screw as a strap attachment. About 1 and 3/4 by 2 and 1/4 by about 7 inches long. The spout hole is 1/4".
Price $ 50.00

#20 (above)
A really unique horn, sort of a rum horn shape, but with the ends plugged with cork. One end is still in place, and is made of cork covered with tar. Has 3 iron pins and possibly a brass one. About 5 and 1/2 inches tall, tapering from a base of 2 and 3/4 inches to a top of 3 and 1/2 inches it is virtually covered with trees, birds, animals and people. This has been described to me as a possible 17th century salt or fire starting kit. The shory side of the curve would have had a leather strap. The open end would have had another tar covered cork plug. Probably from the Caribbean islands ... Tortuga, Barbadoes ... who knows. Repaired a bit, but still older than dirt. Gorgeous.
Price $ 800.00
